Samareh Azar, M.D., is an ophthalmologist at EyeCare Associates of East Texas, serving patients in Tyler, TX. She specializes in comprehensive eye care, with a focus on cataract surgery. She prides herself on getting to know her patients and performing thorough pre-operative evaluations, so that the best lens is selected for each patient.
Dr. Azar is a Texas native, having grown up in Belton and San Antonio. She was the valedictorian of both her high school class and undergraduate class at Schreiner University, where she earned a BA in chemistry. She attended medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year.
Dr. Azar is married to her high school sweetheart, Erik. Together they have a daughter, Leila. Dr. Azar enjoys days on the lake, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her family and friends.
