Samareh Azar, MD

Dr. Azar is a Texas native, having grown up in Belton and San Antonio. She was the valedictorian of both her high school class and undergraduate class at Schreiner University, where she earned a BA in chemistry. She attended medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident her final year. Dr. Azar is excited to return home to Texas and join the Tyler community.  

Dr. Azar is married to her high school sweetheart, Erik. Together, they just welcomed their first daughter Leila. Dr. Azar enjoys days on the lake, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her family and friends.  

Dr. Azar practices comprehensive ophthalmology, with a focus on cataract surgery. She prides herself on getting to know her patients and performing thorough pre-operative evaluations, so that the best lens is selected for each patient. Dr. Azar is excited to join the family at EyeCare Associates!
