Dr. Hooper is a native East Texan: born in Beaumont, raised in Joaquin, attended high school in Center, and graduated from High Island High School as Valedictorian. He then ventured to Waco to attend Baylor University, finishing with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Biology with a Chemistry minor. During undergraduate studies, Dr. Hooper shadowed a local optometrist, then was employed by a commercial optical, to help fortify his belief that optometry was his career path. Accepted to the University of Houston College of Optometry, he completed his professional studies and graduated with his Doctor of Optometry degree in May of 2004. He began examining patients that Summer in Tyler, TX, and he has been helping East Texans to see clearly for the past twenty years!
Dr. Hooper has been married to his best friend and the greatest person he has ever met, Lara, for the past twenty-two years. They have two children they could not be more proud of: Jacob, a college sophomore and Lily, a high school junior. Residing in Arp, Dr. Hooper and his family absolutely love their church, school and community. You'll find them eagerly volunteering whenever opportunities arise! When they are away from home, you likely find them on a beach, hiking or exploring another national park.
Dr. Hooper enjoys all aspects of the practice of optometry: providing exams for spectacles and contact lenses, screening for systemic diseases, performing minor surgical ophthalmic procedures, and managing chronic ocular health conditions. Above all, He hopes each encounter is an enjoyable experience for the patient, where the patient leaves our office seeing better and/or feeling better, happy and satisfied.
