John Whorff, O.D., Ph.D., F.A.A.O., is an optometrist at EyeCare Associates of East Texas, serving patients in Winnsboro, TX. He treats a wide range of conditions, but has a special interest in glaucoma and diabetes.
Dr. Whorff earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in Boston from the oldest optometry school in the country, the New England College of Optometry. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from California State University, Stanislaus and earned his Ph.D. in Zoology from Texas A&M University. At his lab in the Biology Department at College Station, he obtained significant funding from Mobil Oil and the State of Texas to develop imaging software and published several academic papers.
Dr. Whorff is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and a Diplomat of the American Board of Optometry. He is certified as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist by the Texas Optometry Board. He often speaks on various eye care topics, especially diabetic support groups.
