JOB TITLE: Surgical Coordinator

OFFICE:  Eyecare Associates of East Texas

LOCATION: Tyler, TX

POSITION SUMMARY

Deliver excellent patient-centered care by ensuring the financial and surgical communication process is complete for patients having surgical procedures. 

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

This position will require flexibility and a broad knowledge base, with ability to perform any of the below tasks.  

  • Counsels with the patients and assists with insurance and any funding necessary. Informs the patient of how the process will work.
  • Check every patient chart for insurance benefits, prepare a cost summary and counsel patient regarding finances or call patient regarding mailed cost summary.
  • Counsel patient for Physician Fees and Eye Surgery Center.
  • Re-verify active status of every patient’s insurance at beginning of each month.
  • Enter notes in patient account and spreadsheet for Surgery: Insurance, Collections and Reverification.
  • Print doctors’ surgery schedule one week prior and go through each patient to confirm all is up to date.
  • Confirm all surgeries have been pre-certified and a cost summary done.
  • Follow up/collect for surgery payments for ECA and ESC.
  • All other duties assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience in financial counseling is preferred. 
  • Must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States
